Access all areas easily October 1st 2007 Ranger Equipment says its range of Teupen tracked platforms are making life easier
for cleaning and maintenance firms around the UK.Able to fit through small
doorways, operate on delicate surfaces and with substantial outreach, the units can
prove far more cost effective than scaffolding
When it comes to cleaning at height, Ranger Equipment says
the use of a suitable access platform or MEWP (mobile
elevating work platform) can provide the most costeffective
solution and the safest possible alternative to conventional
ladders and contract scaffolding.
Since the summer of 2005, the Chesterfield-based firm has been
the sole UK importer for the high quality Teupen range of tracked
platforms.
In the field of cleaning and maintenance, self-propelled tracked
platforms are populardue to their ability to power their own way to
the location required, even if it involves climbing stairs, crossing
suspended floors or traversing delicate and expensive surfaces such
as marble where the use of optional non-marking tracks will totally
eliminate the likelihood of any damage.
For example, on a recent job in Leeds where the tallest building in
the city has recently been completed, a Teupen LEO36T solved a
problem of high level internal finishing and cleaning work within an
atrium area by being able to pass through a 1.68m wide disabled
entrance with just 5mm to
spare each side. The
accuracy required to
accomplish this feat
without damage was made
possible by Teupen's 'fuzzy
logic' control system which
provides very smooth
movements and hence
high levels of operator
confidence, whether
travelling or working at
height.
Based in Germany,
Teupen was the pioneer of
platforms mounted onto
tracked undercarriages and
has a well-established
reputation throughout
Europe as perhaps the premier manufacturer of specialist platforms.
With a large range of models with maximum working heights from
12m to 50m, in particular the company offers 23, 25, 30 and 36m
reach machines mounted on narrow, lightweight chassis for
maximum operating versatility. These have been of particular interest
to customers in the UK where confined sites are the norm.
The flagship model in Teupen's line-up is the LEO 50GT which has a
working height of up to 50m with over 20m of horizontal outreach.
Despite its performance, this model folds down to a 1.58m wide, 8.3m
long and 1.98m high transport package able to pass through a
standard double doorway.
"The Teupen product has been extremely well accepted by both
our sales and hire customers
involved in all types of cleaning
work," says Ranger md, Steve
Hadfield."The 50m machine
now enables us to offer a very
special platform for people
needing to work at
considerable heights in
complete safety."
For example, one of the first
50m Teupen platforms in the
UK was recently used for high
level cleaning duties by
Newmason Properties on its
£70million Victoria Mills
development at Shipley in West
Yorkshire.The only alternative
to hiring the machine from Ranger Rentals would have been to
scaffold the structures involved at a cost estimated at £20,000 –
which would have taken several days to erect and dismantle with all
the associated noise and
disturbance to residents. More articles from The Spiderlift Company: |
