Mops with added microfibres increases efficiency
May 1st 2005

Vileda Professional has improved the effective SWEP mopping system by adding microfibres to its mop heads.Designed to fulfill all cleaning requirements, including floors, walls, staircases and high or awkward to reach areas, each mopping system comprises a frame, handle and easy to change, re-usable microfibre mop head for damp cleaning.

So what makes the SWEP Microfibre cleaning system so much more effective? The ultrafine microfibres actually clean at a microscopic level, penetrating surfaces at a finer level than normal fibres. When used damp they work by capillary action to scrape, remove and absorb dirt from surfaces, leaving nothing behind but tiny water droplets, improving cleanliness and reducing the risk of cross-contamination.

Once one area is cleaned, the microfibre mop head is removed and another pre-prepared one is fitted on the frame for use in the next room. The soiled mop is then placed in a bag for laundering. If the correct cleaning protocols are followed, SWEP mops are guaranteed to last for 1000 wash cycles. That amounts to three years usage, if they are laundered daily, which has obvious cost, and environmental benefits.

Once cleaned, the reusable microfibre mop heads are then stored and dosed on their edge, allowing an even and efficient dosing of each pad. The SWEP system features a highly efficient, one-step cleaning process.Traditional damp, flat floor mopping requires a lengthy twostage process of a dust control pre-sweep and then mopping.SWEP was the first system which doesn’t require this traditional two-step approach, instead reducing it down to just a single step with no need to pre-sweep or vacuum before mopping.

Without the need for heavy buckets of water, the system also offers user health and safety benefits and, because SWEP doesn’t leave the floor wet, it’s back in use quicker.

“The SWEP system adds up to a lot more than just mopping,” says Vileda’s marketing manager Steve Barber,“and now with added microfibre it is even more effective.

It means SWEP now offers domestic cleaning teams in hospitals, hotels, restaurants and offices a complete microfibre cleaning system for quicker, more efficient cleaning.”
