Men want more from the mens' room? March 1st 2006 While a survey commissioned by PHS Washrooms found over 80% of businesses rated their mens rooms at 7/10 or higher, it also suggested that men want more from a trip to the loo
The survey of 303 business bosses across England and Wales found that when asked how they rated the men's washroom, 20% initially gave a score of less than six out of ten. The remaining 80% rated them between seven and ten out of ten.
However, while those results are promising, around a quarter of respondents were aware that the urinals smell unpleasant at least sometimes. Although only 3.5% said they smelled often, over half of respondents didn't know blockages or smells are usually caused by uric salt build up in the urinal trap.
When asked if they thought men were more demanding from their washroom, 63% agreed that it was probably down to the explosion in male grooming products and the resulting heightened awareness of time spent in the washroom/bathroom. When asked to rate their washroom again bearing in mind the questions they had just answered, the number giving their washroom a score of less than six out of ten crept up to 25%.
PHS Washrooms says cleaning contractors need to do more to help clients improve the washroom facilities they offer to staff and visitors. "It is simply not acceptable that malodours and blockages go unchecked in the modern washroom, especially when they can be treated so easily these days," says PHS Washroom managing director, Ian Osborne.
PHS says its new Sani-sleeve forms one such remedy. Inserted into the modified waste trap of the urinal, it works by stopping urine from turning into uric salts, eliminating the cause of smell and blockages. |
