New BCC Chairman

Steve Wright takes over from Judith West as Chairman of the BCC.“I want all members to play their part,” says Wright.“And I’m keen to find ways of opening up new avenues of business for the Council.”

Formerly a facilities manager at the BBC, he has 30 years experience in cleaning and facilities management.

Clean Britain Awards

The Clean Britain Awards will be launched a Westminster (probably) in early March next year, with the Awards presentations taking place at the 2009 Cleaning Show.Anyone interested in getting involved should email: information @cleanbritainawards.co.uk

Bog Standard going strong

The BTA reports that the Public Toilet Steering Group has now had its first meeting and hopes to have a report and recommendations ready by the end of October 2007. The Association also says the Bog Standard school toilet campaign is making good progress. www.britloos.co.uk

Building Cleanability Awards

The 2007/2007 Building Cleanability Awards scheme is being officially launched at the cleaning Industry’s Livery Company Luncheon at Trinity House, London, on 9 July.

Nominations can be submitteduntil the end of the year.
