Comprehensive healthcare cover
October 1st 2006

OCS Integrated Services Healthcare supplies a range of services to one of the UK's latest independently run NHS orthopaedic and joint replacement treatment centres, covering technical and engineering support, security, cleaning and laundry, portering and catering

With four operating theatres, 44 beds, diagnostic and physiotherapy suites and a target of 5,000 operating procedures every year, the new Independently run NHS Treatment Centre, operated by Interhealth Care Serviced on behalf of Cheshire and Merseyside PCTs, will demand professional and reliable 24/7 support. The appointment of OCS Integrated Services Healthcare as a single source services supplier will be crucial from the day the centre opens.

OCS Integrated Services – Healthcare – will be providing a comprehensive mix of essential services, managed through a single point of contact, all coordinated by on-site Help Desk. As well as patient catering services, a Just Deli café will be located in the main reception area for staff and visitors, as well as a vending service. A team of fast response skilled engineers will provide the expertise to ensure the smooth running of the building. 24 hour security and portering, together with cleaning and laundry services will ensure a safe and pleasant environment for patients, staff and visitors.

OCS Integrated Services links all of the support services offered by the OCS group. It works by providing a dedicated, stand-alone resource tailored across all disciplines through a single on site contact, single invoice structure. This new approach brought in more than £130 million of contracts being won in the first few months of operation.

Chris Cracknell, OCS chief executive, sees such change as a real opportunity to change the way his industry works,"Our Integrated Services division is an exciting step forward in the 'one complete solution' philosophy which is central to our success. We see major changes required in the momentum of service delivery alongside many new Government PFI initiatives such as this new treatment centre. By recognising these changes and continually adapting to our customers' needs,we aim to maintain our significant position in the marketplace."

The new Cheshire and Merseyside NHS Treatment Centre is located at Halton General Hospital and was one phase of a number of independent sector facilities announced by Health Minister John Hutton last year across Worcestershire,Merseyside and Burton-upon- Trent. The Minister said,"Treatment Centres are a cost-effective alternative to building new expensive theatres by allowing the local NHS to tap into good value, high quality clinical resources and treat their patients in state-of-the-art facilities."
