The $10million cleaner
October 1st 2004

Uptake in use of a sanitiser and cleaner launched in the UK in 1999 continues to grow within the health sector as homes and hospitals look for effective solutions to day-to-day hygiene.

Microsan is based on a $10m research investment in the US.The result is a highly effective solution that is both EU and US registered against bacteria (including MRSA), viruses (including Hepatitis B and HIV), fungi, algae and mildew.

Microsan is manufactured and marketed by Prochem Europe as a standalone multi-surface sanitiser and cleaner solution and may also be used with its range of carpet cleaning machines. D500 Microsan is a multi-surface sanitiser and cleaner concentrate in one. This anti-microbial chemical acts against bacteria, viruses, fungi, algae and mildew and has major applications within the growing flood restoration market. The product complements the range of Prochem odour control products already in use in nursing homes, hotels and other environments where carpet hygiene is important.

“The growing priority of infection control within healthcare and related areas is prompting sales growth for cleaning chemicals specialists,”reports managing director Alan Tilley.

Microsan was launched after market research indicated a lack of registered ‘multi-surface’ sanitising and cleaning products for the control of bacteria including MRSA and viruses including Hepatitis B and HIV. The Microsan formula complies with the registration requirement of the Biocidal Products Directive and is currently available as a high concentration formula in five-litre containers.

"A ready-to-use version of the product in one-litre spray bottles is due for launch during the second half of 2004." says Alan.
