It's blast off time for dirt
April 1st 2008

Environmentally friendly and non-abrasive, dry ice blast cleaning systems are the way forward, says Cold Jet LLC

Cold Jet LLC (USA) has launched its new Aero Series of dry ice blast cleaning systems. The new models include the electricpneumatic Aero 40,Aero 80,Aero 80-DX and Aero 80-HP.Also included in the launch is the pneumatic-powered Aero C100 which, the company claims, cleans twice as fast as conventional pneumatic systems. "Our technology has been built with more than 20 years of research and development, and proven effective in cleaning hundreds of applications; from smoke damaged books and historical buildings to rubber tyre moulds and printing presses," says Gene Cooke, ceo of Cold Jet LLC.

Cooke regards the C100 as being a "quantum leap" in terms of pneumatic dry ice blast cleaning. The system uses nonabrasive media that won't damage surfaces or equipment.Dry ice pellets or particles create "miniexplosions" on the surfaces being cleaned that lift away dirt and contaminants. The nonabrasive process leaves no secondary waste, unlike sand, bead or soda blasting, as the dry ice pellets convert from solid to gas – through the process of sublimation – on impact. Dry ice blasting is environmentally friendly, non-toxic and reduces or eliminates employee exposure to potentially dangerous chemical cleaning agents.

Cold Jet's Aero series includes the following features: The Cold Jet SureFlow System, consisting of an isolated hopper, Multi-Layer Insulation blankets, advanced agitation technology and a sealed lid, with the Aero 80-HP and 80-DX models also including an automatic tilt-out hopper for quick and easy unloading and preserving of unused ice A flow-thru pocket feeder design that maintains pellet integrity and reduces air loss Aerodynamic nozzles that help maximise performances Ergonomic applications that reduce user fatigue Proprietary coupling systems for quick easy connection and disconnection of nozzles and hoses Aerodynamically tuned hoses which eliminate constriction and deliver more cleaning power Welded steel frame and rugged tires for mobility and durability in every environment Cold Jet's UK distributor is Cryogenesis UK based in Littlehampton, West Sussex.
