Taking a shine to the airport August 1st 2005 MITIE Transport Services is putting a shine on floors at the new Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield with a BHS 7014 Ride-on Burnisher from Nilfisk-Advance. The batterypowered machine is used overnight by MITIE’s cleaning team to ensure a high gloss, dust free finish on thousands of square metres of granite flooring in the smart new airport building.
MITIE Transport Services specified Nilfisk’s BHS 7014 both for its high productivity and performance, as managing director, Johan Venter explains: “We needed a machine that would enable our operatives to work quickly, as cleaning time is limited, without compromising quality. The BHS 7014 fitted the bill perfectly on both counts.” The BHS 7014 Ride-on Burnisher has been designed by Nilfisk- Advance to give hard floors a premium quality burnished finish without dust, fumes or noise. It has a working speed of 6.4km/hr – making it 120% faster than walkbehind models and can cover up to 3500m2 in an hour. The BHS 7014 also benefits from a built-in dust collection system, whereby the burnishing head seals to the floor to confine dust and blow it directly into a disposable bag. This eliminates the need to mop after burnishing, to enhance productivity and reduce labour costs. A high quality shine is assured courtesy of an automatic pad speed/pressure control, while the flexible pad holder produces consistent results on uneven surfaces.
The Nilfisk BHS 7014 Burnisher has simple one-touch controls and pictorial displays, so operatives can be up and running with the minimum of training. The machine’s rear wheel steering and tapered frame allow excellent manoeuvrability, plus on the spot turning without tilting. A plug-in charge system permits speedy charging without opening the machine.
For safety purposes, all machine functions cut off automatically when the operative’s foot is removed from the pedal. Like all Nilfisk-Advance machines, the BHS 7014 has an ergonomic design, including adjustable seat, tilt steering wheel and optional armrest, to reduce user fatigue.
Johan Venter concludes: “The BHS 7014 is proving an extremely cost-effective solution for maintaining a sleek finish on the airport’s huge granite floor. It really enhances the gloss and Nilfisk’s service has been superb.” More articles from Nilfisk-ALTO: |
