Specifying the right tools for the job August 1st 2006 Krcher says floorcare is all about matching the machine to the application. Here the company outlines its various product lines and their uses
Hard floors come in a daunting variety of styles and finishes. Choosing the right machine for the surface can be a challenge. Which is why cleaning specialist, Krcher, offers prospective customers not only the ability to consult its experts, but also the opportunity to put its equipment into a live trial before purchasing. This helps to ensure it will be suitable in terms of the area that needs to be cleaned and that it will work well in the environment and at the times of day when it needs to operate.
Scrubber driers
For washing of large areas of floor, such as the entrance to an office building, a scrubber drier such as Krcher's BR 530 is ideal. The machine covers large areas quickly and has a built-in charger for fast recharging in any location. In comparison, smaller areas, such as toilets, washrooms and cafeterias, might demand a BR 400, which is compact for manoeuvrability and scrubs, dries, polishes and sprays in one.
Sweepers
Krcher sweepers are designed to pick up dust, dirt and litter from both internal and external surfaces. The range includes both walk-behind machines and ride-ons. The Krcher KM 85/50W, for example, is a powered sweeper that can be supplied as battery or petrolpowered depending on whether it will be used inside or out. Similarly, the ride-on KM 90/45R is batterypowered for large indoor applications. It features a threewheel chassis, excellent manoeuvrability and the ability to climb gradients of up to 12%.
Polishers
Many hard floor surfaces need floor polishers to deliver a squeaky clean shine. Krcher makes a wide range of polishers, including the two latest battery-powered additions. The new BDP 43/1500 C and BDP 55/1900 W battery-powered ultra high-speed floor polishers operate very quietly at less than 60 dB(A) and, because there is no cable, there's no risk of trailing wires across busy passageways, during working hours.
Although training for staff comes as standard with every piece of Krcher equipment, the company claims its compact BDP 43/1500 C battery-driven polisher is incredibly easy to use, even for novices to such equipment. Unlike some single disc machines, the manoeuvrable unit is easy to control and steer in a straight line. Two batteries provide a running time of about two hours and the charger is built-in.
The more advanced battery-driven BDP 55/1900 W with traction drive is designed for high-speed polishing in larger buildings, such as department stores, shopping centres and public buildings. It has a working width of 505 mm and an area coverage of up to 2,000 sq.m/h.
The BDP 55/1900 W features a vacuum attachment, so there is no need to pre-clean surfaces in many cases, meaning greater efficiency and less time required from cleaning staff. Dust and other loose dirt are collected in a water filter, which means the unit's performance remains at a constant high level because the filter cannot become clogged. A cartridge filter provides additional protection for the fan.
Steam cleaners
Steam cleaners provide a hygienic clean for tiled areas such as those found in leisure centre changing rooms. Krcher's DE 4002 steam cleaner produces steam at a temperature of 140c, leaving surfaces hygienically clean. Alternatively, there is the Foam Star FS200 which has a fan jet nozzle that enhances the effectiveness of cleaning agents and disinfectants and swiftly tackles large tiled areas.
