Floored by the choice of cleaning machines?
May 1st 2005

With the array of cleaning machines on the market today, its no wonder that purchasers get confused and select with the wrong machine for the task or floor type. Input from a reputable supplier is crucial as the vast number of machines and their variants afford differing capabilities and benefits

Such a supplier is Dowding & Plummer, UK manufacturers and suppliers of the renowned Victor brand.Victor machinery prides itself on being at the forefront of design and innovation.Victor is perhaps best known for its range of Rotary Burnishers.Available in three categories – rotary floor buffers, vacuumated rotaries and ultra high-speed – each affording individual performance advantages.

The most compact yet versatile rotary available is the Sprite 300.

Launched over 35 years ago and still maintaining its position as market leader, the Sprite 300 has constantly evolved to meet its customers ever changing needs.Weighing a mere 22kg, it can be used on hard floors and carpet, unusual for a machine of this type.

This machine is ideal for wet scrubbing, floor polishing, carpet skimming, carpet bonnet mopping, hard floor bonnet mopping and carpet shampooing providing real flexibility.

At 240rpm,the Sprite 300 is most commonly used in small, hard to reach areas such as washrooms and toilets. Available with an optional seven-litre tank for scrubbing and shampooing, offering 150m2 productivity per hour. With a fold down handle and brush tidy hook, it can be easily stored and transported to the work area without risk to the user.

For larger areas, a vacuumated rotary is a more efficient option. When the floor is buffed or sprayed with cleaning fluid, the high-speed brush creates a dust. A vacuumated cleaner will collect this dust as it cleans saving the operator time by eliminating another process and protects them from breathing in the dust as it atomises.

The Airflow 450 has been designed with the user in mind, making it easy to operate, and offers exceptional performance and cleaning results.

For the most poorly treated floors, an Ultra High-Speed rotary is the answer, allowing the user to give the floor a lasting and hardwearing finish. Getting a distressed floor back to its natural state can be expensive if you bring in a specialist cleaner. An Ultra High-Speed rotary can be used on most sealed floors to create a higher and harder shine that will be easier and more cost effective to maintain.

Working at a speed of 1000 rpm, the Excel rotary machine is available with a 16 and 20 inch cleaning pad and is considered to be the leading Ultra High-Speed rotary on the market. The Excel can be used on all hard floor types and requires very little user training.

Victor is preparing to launch its latest innovations – a Battery Burnisher and a Multi-Speed rotary. The Battery Burnisher is an exciting development for Victor and will be the first available.Offering over two hours of cleaning time, it gives the operative the freedom to safely clean any area without the restriction of a mains lead.Considered key, the on-board battery charger will ensure the machine is recharged and ready to use again within six hours with the minimum of disruption.

The sleek Multi-Speed rotary with adjustable speed settings at 180, 300 and 600rpm will be ready for delivery in the summer. With a 15-metre cleaning range and 17-inch pad, the multi-speed is designed for multi-task scrubbing, spray cleaning and burnishing. It is ideal for environments where a variety of floor types and cleaning solutions are required.

Nevill Furber, head of sales for Dowding & Plummer, explains:“The response to the new machines at the Cleaning Show exceeded all our expectations with customers wanting immediate availability. This demand has made these innovations priority over all other research and development projects currently in place, in order for us to move into production as soon as possible. ” Both of the new machines were demonstrated at the show by Alan Foster, a cleaning specialist and training consultant for Dowding & Plummer, who added:“I’ve never had such a positive response to new machines as I did with the Battery Burnisher and Multi-Speed.Customers commented on how light and easy to use both of the machines are. They have a slow start and are considered incredibly quiet.” The machines were showcased alongside the rest of the Victor range which includes tub and upright vacuums, wet & dry vacuums, scrubber dryers and carpet extractors. To compliment the machines,Dowding & Plummer offer a comprehensive tailored aftercare package.
