The Cleaning Show 2011 April 1st 2011 The Cleaning Show is done and dusted for another year with the show’s regular visitors reporting that the 2011 show had a different feel to it than previous years. The absence of some of the industry’s bigger players allowed smaller companies to shine with the Green Zone and the Innovation Awards proving good forums through which to do so. Georgina Bisby reports fom the event
Cleaning Matters had an excellent three days at this year’s Cleaning Show which took place from the first to the third March at the NEC Birmingham. The team thoroughly enjoyed having the chance to meet so many cleaning enthusiasts as well as learning more about the latest product and service offerings from the market and finding out your priorities for the rest of 2011 and beyond.
Unsurprisingly a key focus of The Cleaning Show this year was green cleaning.According to the event’s organisers visitors to the Cleaning Show are increasingly looking for environmentally friendly products to help them with their search so this year they created a dedicated Green Zone.
The Green Zone comprised a number of products from different
companies which have been developed to promote environmentally
sensitive cleaning practices and the exhibits were featured in an
adjacent, free-to-enter, seminar programme.
Commenting on the number of visitors looking for green solutions at this year’s event and on the show in general, Karin Mugnaini Girault, communications manager, for the green cleaning technology specialist Activeion said:“The Cleaning Show is clearly an important event on the cleaning industry map.Traffic was strong throughout the three days but the quality of visitors was even better than the quantity. We are so pleased that Activeion’s brand awareness is now very strong - the result of a lot of hard work throughout the year, not just from ourselves, but from all of our customers, devoted distributors and the enthusiastic general public - who share our ideas and passion for chemical-free cleaning.”
There was also a strong focus on training at this year’s event with Stan Atkins, group CEO of the British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc) which used the event to launch a Cleaning Professionals Skills Suite commenting:“In the years that we have been exhibiting at the Cleaning Show this has been one of our most successful shows to date.We will be back in 2013, which will be our 52nd year of operation, to continue to support the British Cleaning Industry and our members in the cause of raising standards in the cleaning industry further.“
Designed to honour pioneering innovation in the cleaning industry The Cleaning Show’s Innovation Awards were also a popular feature at this year’s event. The overall winner of the 2011 awards was the Flow Controller from Aqua-Dapter which can be fitted to a waterfed pole to control the flow of water.
On receiving the award Paul Wright of Aqua-dapter commented: "It is a great honour for Aqua-dapter to receive, not only the Innovation Award in the Window Cleaning Product category, but also for the product to be unanimously counted worthy of being the overall winner! Tribute should be paid to Steve Jones, the inventor of the Aqua-dapter, who has spent years developing and refining the design to make it a high-quality ‘must have’ piece of kit for any water fed pole user."
