Sweeps, vacuums and scrubs simultaneously
December 1st 2004

A leading distributor of ambient grocery product, which supplies all the major multiples and cash-and-carrys, has been so pleased with Tennant floor-cleaning equipment that it has now bought the latest sweeper-scrubber fitted with FaST technology

Boughey Distribution, part of the NWF Group, has acquired the Tennant 8300 sweeper-scrubber for its new 164 000 sq.ft.

warehouse on Deeside. It features Tennant’s fast-foam technology, which increases the productivity of sweeper-scrubbers and scrubber-dryers while slashing water and detergent usage and reducing costs.

Boughey Distribution warehouse manager Dave Vernon said that the Tennant 8300 had proved itself at a 103 000 sq.ft warehouse in Winsford so he was happy to trial it with the FaST system at the new and larger warehouse.

We have established an excellent relationship with Tennant over the years and have come to trust their machines and the service provided, he said. So when the Tennant area manager suggested that we try the 8300 sweeper-scrubber with fast-foam technology,we were happy to do that.

It has been a great success, proving its ability to deal with a large warehouse. The FaST system provides a very good clean, which is obviously of great importance in an area where grocery product is stored. What’s more, the system leaves no taint.

Dave Vernon likes the way that the 8300 sweeps, vacuums and scrubs simultaneously, and so effectively, thus saving time. Usually when you sweep and scrub, you get dust in the air;we want to avoid this, since the way we present goods to our customers is of paramount importance. The 8300 keeps dust levels to a minimum and proved particularly valuable during the completion of building works.

Dave Vernon has been so pleased with the Tennant 8300 with FaST that he was happy to put it through its paces for the benefit of another potential Tennant customer.

He also praises the service he receives from Tennant. It is of a very high standard. Their engineers will always seek and advise solutions which are not the most expensive.

The battery-powered Tennant 8300 sweeper-scrubber uses a 230mm diameter brush with a re-directional cylinder to sweep debris into the hopper without brush carry-over. Debris, including bolts and nails, are swept up in advance of scrubbing. Equipped with two side brushes, the sweeping path can be increased to 1630 mm, further increasing the Tennant 8300’s productivity.

With a 216-litre solution tank, a 280-litre recovery tank and a 1000mm scrubbing path, the Tennant 8300 has a large scrubbing capacity. Its extra-large-sized batteries increase running time while, for the operator, comfort is ensured with power steering as standard.

The Tennant FaST (Foam Scrubbing Technology) system, with which the Tennant 8300 sweeper-scrubber can be fitted, uses an on-board cartridge to release an appropriate amount of concentrate, which is mixed with water and compressed air. This creates a self-collapsing cleaning foam that ensures activation of a higher detergent percentage. By the time the foam is recovered by the machine, it has returned completely to its liquid state, leaving the floors cleaner and, because less water has been used, also dryer.

With the FaST system, the scrubbing time with just one water fill is extended by up to 400% and, since time is saved with less draining and filling, job time is shortened. This means a reduction in labour costs of an average 30%. Moreover, Tennant’s automaticdosing cartridge contains enough cleaning solution to last for weeks, cutting out messy or haphazard mixing.
