Tracks vehicles in real-time

Masternaut has won a contract to pilot its satellite tracking and vehicle information service to the London Borough of Hillingdon. Street sweepers will be among the first vehicles to be equipped with the system which provides real-time tracking and status information via an internet-connected pc.

The always on tracking service uses GPRS mobile communications and is designed as a web service. It will provide Hillingdon with easy, instant access to fleet information around the clock. It will be used to improve driver safety, security, customer service and use of resources.

In Waste Management, it will watch over the fleet of street sweepers, providing a log of routes linked to sensors recording brush down status. Vehicles already equipped include small Schmidt precinct and pavement sweepers, mid-size Scarabs and a full size road sweeper.
