Reliant Partsworld, the Staffordshire based niche vehicle importers have added the Sky-Lift range of hydraulic lift access platforms to the growing collection of light commercial vehicle applications they distribute

The Sky-Lifts are specialist telescopic lifting applications based on the Piaggio Porter range of compact diesel vehicles that Reliant have distributed throughout the UK for the last four years. Based on the Piaggios compact design with overall vehicles dimensions of a mere 3390mm long by 1395mm wide, the Porter Sky-Lift is ideally suited for use in congested towns, pedestrian precincts, narrow backstreets and parks. In addition it provides a very cost-effective solution as a 24-hour emergency standby vehicle that has only occasional use requirements.

The standard Porter chassis cab forms the basis of several hydraulic access platforms including an 8m and 9.5m telescopic basket in addition to 10.5m and 12m telescopic ladder units. Each platform is fully demountable from the base body, allowing for rapid change over in the event of vehicle accident thereby ensuring emergency cover is maintained.

Each vehicle is fitted with four, hydraulic operated stabilisers providing a stable base for all platform operations. These are controlled from the rear of the vehicle after operating a master switch located inside the cab. Ground penetration allows individual levelling on uneven road surfaces and when stowed, the stabilisers are within the overall width of the vehicle. A boom stabiliser interlock system ensures that the platforms cannot be operated without the correct deployment of all stabilisers and that the vehicle cannot be driven away with them in the lowered position.

A motorised fifth wheel controls the revolving turret in all models and duel controls are fitted inside the cage and on the base of the platform, allowing attendant operation. The insulated GRP basket is automatically levelled through a mechanical/hydraulic system. Platform operating heights are to a maximum of 9.5m combined with an outreach of 5m and are fitted with a GRP personnel basket that provides a safe working load of up to 125kg. All baskets are equipped with slip resistant floors, water drain holes and twin integrally bonded safety anchor points. The safe use of operator safety belts are compulsory and should be to CE certifications.

The Porter based Sky-Lifts are the first units available from Reliant and will be extended to include taller platforms based on larger vehicles including Fiats and Fords. All Sky-Lifts are CE certified and comply with all current European safety legislation.
