Mitie is on the buses
August 1st 2010 Mitie, the strategic outsourcing
company, has been awarded an
FM contract with Nexus, the
Passenger Transport Executive
for Tyne and Wear in the north
east of England.The contract
consists of cleaning five bus
interchanges, two office locations
and several travel centres,
including waste collection and
consumable supplies.
The £1.6 million, three-year
contract started in mid May
2010, with approximately 30
employees on the contract,
overseen by a contract manager
and three mobile supervisors.
Two innovations that have been
introduced on the contract are
MITIE Tracker, the time and
attendance phone-based system
for operatives to use, and a deep
clean programme which will be
completed every evening in
addition to the normal machine
maintenance programme; this
ensures floors are cleaned to the
required standards.Johan Venter,
